Legislators charged with supervising the introduction of slot machines to the state ruled Tuesday not to delay for the new law authorized by voters in November.

"Time is of the essence," Adams stated, stressing the governor's goal of honoring voters' wishes by getting slots up and running in Bangor in a timely fashion but under strict management.

The presidents of the Northern Panhandle's two race track businesses may be teaming up to lobby for the authorization of table gambling.

Should legalized video slots take place in Pennsylvania, "that would have a significant impact on West Virginia lottery income," Andres stated. "We get a lot of business from Pennsylvania."

"If we have table games and have the full amenity experience, it would help mitigate" the loss of customers to Pennsylvania.
