Chamber Throws Support Behind Racetrack, Casino Plans - 2004-02-05
Two gambling-related developments in Romulus have an additional booster. The Southern Wayne County Regional Chamber adopted a resolution last week backing plans to open a thoroughbred racetrack and casino/convention center in the city.

The resolution hailed the developments' potential to enhance the region near Detroit Metropolitan Airport, as well as Downriver, as a tourism and business destination.

"This could be a real unique opportunity for the region," chamber President Edward Clemente said.

Casino On Cards For Dog Track - 2004-02-05
Greyhound fans may soon be rubbing shoulders with megabucks gamblers after the sale of Wimbledon Stadium to one of America's biggest casino operators.

Owners are selling the site for £270million. The US gaming corporation now reportedly plans to open a giant casino, slot machine emporium and hotel development on the 14-acre site in Plough Lane, with weekly greyhound races still taking place.
