Rockaway Beach Ready For A Casino - 2004-02-05
Rockaway Beach voters are still expressing support for a casino in their town. Voters Tuesday passed a measure permitting city officials to issue a business license to a casino if it is approved under state law.

There are 555 registered voters in the resort town on Lake Taneycomo 15 miles east of Branson. The vote came as no surprise to local residents who said they heard no talk of opposition. It's not the first time voters here have shown their sentiments.

Tourism slowdown impacting Ontario gaming - 2004-02-05
The lingering effects of a major tourism slowdown in southern Ontario are still present at Casino Niagara and Fort Erie Racetrack's gaming operation.

According to third quarter statistics released by the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corp., attendance and revenues were off, in some cases as much as 25 percent, at both Casino Niagara in Niagara Falls and Fort Erie Racetrack.

Niagara Falls, southern Ontario and the Buffalo Niagara region have suffered through a series of issues that hit the hospitality and tourism industry during the past 12 months.
