Tribe trumpets resort-style casino - 2004-02-05
The Narragansett Indians and the town of West Warwick have been shot down in the past for their attempts to put a casino referendum on a statewide ballot, but this time, Rep. Timothy Williamson says,
'the stars are in alignment, and the planets are, too'

Williamson and his West Warwick colleague, Sen. Stephen Alves, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, joined Narragansett Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas and Jan Jones, vice president of Harrah's Entertainment Inc., to launch a bill to establish a half-billion dollar resort-style casino in what currently qualifies as one of Rhode Island's five distressed communities.

Poker Tourneys Draw Full House - 2004-02-05
Casino managers aren't bluffing when they say television poker shows are enticing new players to visit their parlors.

Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde will tap that popularity when it hosts the first tier of the World Poker Tour's Super Satellite Tournament.

"The World Poker Tour is the most watched series in the history of the Travel Channel," said Melissa Feldman, who's with the tour in West Hollywood, Calif.

While Cliff Castle action won't be televised, winners have the chance to advance toward potential stardom in the three-tier tournament.
