New casino owner to use Sam's Town name - 2004-02-06
Boyd Gaming Corp., which hopes to take ownership
of Harrah's riverboat casino in Shreveport later this year, plans to rename the gambling hall Sam's Town.

The casino will be themed, at least in part, around the Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas, which Boyd Gaming also owns.

"We are working out the plans and expect to have a more detailed announcement in the second quarter," said Rob Stillwell, a spokesman for Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming.

Casino panel withdraws invitation - 2004-02-06
The panel that will distribute casino revenue-sharing
funds to Berrien County communities has withdrawn
its proposition to let Chikaming Township choose a board member.

The withdrawal comes two weeks after the invitation from the Local Revenue Sharing Board.
The two-person board, which is supposed to have three members, is to oversee the local government share of revenues from the casino being planned for New Buffalo Township by the Pokagon Band of the Potowatomi Indian Nation Inc.
