Sides conflict over suggested casino at Rockaway - 2004-03-10
The fight over Rockaway Beach's proposed casino may be going for a statewide vote in November. Chuck Walters, a Rockaway Beach business owner, said residents of the Taney County community need the year-round work and worker benefits that a casino would offer.

Last week, backers of the proposed casino produced 190,182 signatures on petitions calling for a statewide vote to alter the Constitution to permit gambling in Rockaway Beach.

Casino full-year profit increases, sees progress ahead - 2004-03-10
French retailer Casino showed a near 11 percent rise in 2003 net profit on Thursday and stated it intended to see operating profit to increase over 10 percent this year thanks to a rebound in its international business and growth in France.

France's second-biggest listed supermarket group stated net profit after goodwill rose to 492.3 million euros ($605.4 million) from 445.2 million euros in 2002, while operating profit saw a rise up to 1.070 billion euros from 966 million.
