Clark blames horse racing trade for gambling agenda's failure - 2004-03-10
A House leader who was pushing legislation to permit casinos in Kentucky stated Wednesday the bill would not move ahead this year.

The trade wanted the change to establish a 25-mile competition-free radius around every casino, and to say how many casinos would be permitted in Kentucky, Sexton stated. They also did not agree on a provision that would have permitted local option referendums in regions where casinos would have been built, he stated.

Horse Racing Trade Faulted For Gambling Plan's End - 2004-03-10
A House leader who was pushing legislation to allow casinos in Kentucky said the bill will not advance this year.

He had suggested giving voters an amendment to the Kentucky constitution that would have authorized casino gambling. He intended as many as nine casinos to generate $437 million for the state each year.
