New twist on agendas for slots parlors - 2004-03-18
A Beaver County legislator has revealed some possible new wrinkles for Western Pennsylvania in the continuous debate over whether the state should make slot machines legal to lessen property taxes.
State Rep. Mike Veon, a Democratic official in the effort to extend gambling, stated yesterday that he and other lawmakers envision three slot machine venues in the Pittsburgh region. However, all three could end up at horse racing tracks as opposed to having a casino in Downtown Pittsburgh, as Gov. Ed Rendell previously outlined.
