New twist on intentions for slots parlors - 2004-03-18
A Beaver County lawmaker has disclosed some possible new wrinkles for Western Pennsylvania in the incessant debate over whether the state should make slot machines legal to reduce property taxes.
State Rep. Mike Veon, a Democratic official in the effort to develop gambling, stated yesterday that he and other lawmakers envision three slot machine venues in the Pittsburgh region. However, all three could end up at horse racing tracks instead of having a casino in Downtown Pittsburgh, as Gov. Ed Rendell previously outlined.
