Tribe denies plans for casino and theme park venture - 2004-03-03
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is removing almost all the contentious aspects from its downtown master plan - including theme parks and a second casino - in an attempt to ease community worries.

The city and tribe denied an entertainment district was intended, citing references to Ferris wheels and another casino were nothing more than imaginings of what may be possible.

Barrick Gaming unveils big investment agenda - 2004-03-03
The state Gaming Control Board today suggested authorization for Barrick Gaming Corp.'s purchase of most of Jackie Gaughan's downtown Vegas real estate assets, including four hotel-casinos.

They also would erect an 8,000-seat portable arena at the Plaza, purchase the Nevada Club Hotel and the Queen of Hearts motel on Main Street and inevitably redevelop the Western casino into a new Latino-themed hotel-casino.
