Casino death is either accident or suicide - 2004-03-07
Police are going ahead with their probe into the death of a 42-year-old man who leaped to his death from a parking structure at the MotorCity Casino on Saturday night.

Christopher Burden of Toledo, Ohio, is believed to have leaped off one of the upper floors of the four-story parking structure beside the casino on Grand River at the Lodge Freeway.
Solomon Bell, a 38-year-old off-duty Oak Park police sergeant shot himself with his service pistol inside the casino after losing a huge sum of money at blackjack.

Rendell demands action on slots bid - 2004-03-07
Gov. Ed Rendell hasn't exactly been on the money when it comes to projecting General Assembly action to make slots legal at state racetracks and off-track sites.

He was at it again Friday, asserting that the Legislature must act by the April 27 primary on a measure he's introduced that would approve 12 slots casinos around the state. If not by the primary, he stated he wants a vote absolutely no later than June 30, when lawmakers are due to recess for the summer.
