A gamble on Monet - 2004-03-07
Claude Monet stands there and stares at you in the eye. He's old, with a long, white, patriarch's beard. Seen in his infamous garden, he seems prepared to step out of a almost life- size photograph on the wall, suffused with authority and serenity and wearing the mantle of high art.
But art, both classic and contemporary, is becoming simple to find in Vegas, which now shows world-class work, particularly paintings, in galleries, museums and, yes, hotel-casinos.
