Action called for on slot machine bid - 2004-03-08
Gov. Ed Rendell hasn't exactly been on the cash when it comes to projecting General Assembly action to make slot machines legal at state racetracks and off-track sites.
Last fall, he stated legislative action on slots should be finalized by Christmas. Then in early January, he stated he hoped for a vote by the end of February.
Once again on Friday, he was insisting that the Legislature must act by the April 27 primary on a measure he's introduced that would approve 12 slots casinos throughout the state.
