Onorato requests that state give an additional $50 million - 2004-03-08
Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato is seeking over $50 million from the state to lower debt at Pittsburgh International Airport, complete the David L. Lawrence Convention Center and assist in financing a "headquarters" hotel for conventioneers.
One suggestion by Rep. Mike Veon, D-Beaver Falls, is to use some of the tax revenue that would come from a new slots casino in the Pittsburgh region. That concept hinges on whether the Legislature authorize Gov. Ed Rendell's plan to establish slots parlors around the state.
