Casinos, Harrah's, Horseshoe supervisors will stay - 2004-03-09
The new proprietors of Harrah's and Horseshoe casinos stated Tuesday they intend to maintain the same general managers, workers and winning method that makes them the top two casino properties in the district.

Harrah's is generating a $110 million investment at Louisiana Downs, where a new casino with over 1,400 slots will debut in early May. Live racing starts at the track May 14.

Sides conflict regarding suggested casino at Rockaway - 2004-03-09
The fight over Rockaway Beach's suggested casino may be headed for a statewide vote in November.
But a number of foes and one supporter debated Tuesday in the House Tourism and Cultural Affairs Committee.

House Bill 1547 would require county constituents to authorize a casino if city locals did in a municipal election.
