4 council members oppose casino plan - 2005-01-11
While many other cities are overjoyed at the prospect of Indian casino dollars, at least four members of the Oakland City Council are opposing plans for slot machines in the city. They say it would take more resources than it's worth to run the venture.

Councilwomen Nancy Nadel, Jane Brunner and Jean Quan say they want to put forth a resolution today that would oppose plans by the Lower Lake Rancheria-Koi Nation to build the Crystal Bay Casino on a 35-acre site at Swan Way and Pardee Drive off Interstate 880.

Pinnacle Entertainment Announces Re-Opening of Belterra Casino Resort - 2005-01-11
Pinnacle Entertainment, Inc. announced today that, after receiving the Coast Guard's approval, the Company re-opened the riverboat casino portion of Belterra Casino Resort this afternoon. Minor modifications were made to the riverboat's main entrance to enable the casino to re-open sooner than was expected. The hotel and restaurant portions of the property had remained open, as there has been no flooding at or around the property.
