4 council members oppose casino plan - 2005-01-11
While many other cities are overjoyed at the prospect of Indian casino dollars, at least four members of the Oakland City Council are opposing plans for slot machines in the city. They say it would take more resources than it's worth to run the venture.
Councilwomen Nancy Nadel, Jane Brunner and Jean Quan say they want to put forth a resolution today that would oppose plans by the Lower Lake Rancheria-Koi Nation to build the Crystal Bay Casino on a 35-acre site at Swan Way and Pardee Drive off Interstate 880.
