High-roller leaves Stanley feeling low - 2005-01-06
STANLEY LEISURE, one of Britain’s biggest betting and gaming companies, has said a winning streak by a "major player" at its casinos has dented its profits.

The group, which operates 41 casinos, including three in Edinburgh, would not disclose how much the high-roller had won but said it amounted to "material losses".

This came as Stanley suffered further setbacks from unpaid debts at its casinos and a string of adverse sporting results at its chain of 600 bookmakers.

U.S court seeks briefs in tribe's suit over Detroit casinos - 2005-01-06
A federal court has asked M-G-M Grand Detroit Casino and an Indian tribe to file briefs in the tribe's lawsuit over the way the city's three casino franchises were awarded.

In May, lawyers for the casino asked a federal appeals court in Cincinnati to reconsider a lower court's ruling in the lawsuit.
