The governor's legal counsel on casino issues told Sullivan County legislators today in Monticello that approving five Native American casinos for the Catskills would settle all major outstanding land claims between the state and the tribes. Greg Allen said the state may be unable to sell those settlements to the state legislature and the Bureau of Indian Affairs without doing five gaming facilities. Governor Pataki secured state legislative approve for three casinos in late 2001.
