Las Vegas casinos drive up Caesars profits - 2005-02-10
Caesars Entertainment stated that its casino-resorts in Las Vegas drove record fourth quarter earnings as the gaming industry continues to benefit from thriving business in the gambling capital of the US.

Earnings in the eastern part of the US fell 7 per cent to $52m. This was due to a month-long strike by hotel and restaurant employees at casinos in Atlantic City.

Schumer takes a wait and see attitude toward Catskills casinos - 2005-02-10
The final few steps before Native American casinos can be built in the Catskills require federal approval. US Senator Charles Schumer said yesterday that he will not decide how he will vote on the issue until local lawmakers take a stand.

"I haven't even seen support yet from the Sullivan County Legislature, which would be necessary as a first step to get my support," he said. Schumer told Governor George Pataki that he will not support anything if it does not have local support.
