Casinos face FEC fines over donation to N.J. Senate campaign - 2005-02-25
Mirage Resorts and Harrah's Entertainment are among several casinos facing federal fines over illegal fund raising for a US Senate campaign in New Jersey five years ago.
The Federal Election Commission announced today the fines as part of a settlement agreement with the 2000 campaign of Republican William Gormley.
Mirage Resorts, (a subsidiary of MGM Mirage), will pay a $40,000 fine to settle its portion of the case.
Gormley's campaign agreed to pay a $22,000 fine. Another $5,300 in penalties will be shared by Atlantic City Showboat, Marina Associates, Marina executive David Jonas and Harrah's Entertainment executive Herbert Wolfe.
