Ameristar Casinos earnings double - 2005-02-04
The increased profitability of properties owned by Ameristar Casinos Inc., as well as the company's acquisition of a casino in Colorado raised earnings by 51% in the fourth quarter.

The Las Vegas-based company, which owns no casinos in town after selling The Reserve, now the Fiesta Henderson, reported profit of $14.5 million in the fourth quarter compared to profit of $9.5 million for the same period a year ago.

Chamber of Commerce members favor casinos - 2005-02-04
A survey of members of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce found they favor casinos by a two to one margin. More than 200 surveys were returned out of a membership of 1,000.

A survey was conducted to seek member input on Chamber services and activities, as well as thoughts on current advocacy topics such as casinos. “The Chamber continues to focus on our goals of being pro-business, pro-jobs and pro-casino,” said Chamber President John Westergreen. “The economic benefit of the resort casino industry will create jobs both indirectly and directly.”
