LV plagued by rash of casino robberies - 2005-03-21
The armed robbery last week of a cashier at the Bourbon Street casino marked the ninth such crime this year and the second since 2003 for the off-Strip property, Metro Police statistics show.

According to police, a man got change from the cashier at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, then pulled out a handgun demanded the money. Then he ran from the building, stopped at the front desk and pulled the gun on another employee before running outside.

All it takes is a stroke of the pen to end Indian gaming - 2005-03-21
A bill has been introduced in New Mexico to fund a comprehensive study of problem gambling. An editorial letter in the Albuquerque Journal reads as follows: "The State has no idea how many problem gamblers it has, what the social costs of their addictions are, or whether they are getting effective treatment for their addiction. Maybe state leaders, used to over $80 million in annual revenue-sharing from tribal casinos and campaign contributions from gambling interests, do not want to know."
