Casinos Worth The Social Costs? - 2005-03-21
A recent poll by the Siena Research Institute found that 54 percent of respondants in the Albany area think that economic benefits that are derived from Governor George Pataki's proposal to build five casinos in the Catskills wouldn't be worth the social costs of problems related to gambling.
58 percent of those polled, however, say they'd prefer the state raise revenue through gambling, rather than a tax hike.
