Cheap Labor Pushes Singapore to Gamble on Casinos - 2005-03-22
The Bloomberg News reports that Singapore, which fines chewing-gum importers up to $122,740 and bans Playboy magazine, is easing up on its opposition to another vice, casino gambling.
The island-state has plans to build its first casino, scrapping a forty-year ban, as it looks for new industries to replace manufacturers that are moving to lower-cost China and India.
