Gambling addicts ban themselves from Iowa casinos - 2005-03-03
About 240 gambling addicts have signed agreements that voluntarily ban them statewide from Iowa's riverboats and racetrack casinos, state officials said today.
The Iowa Legislature gave its approval to the statewide self-exclusion option last year. It took effect Nov. 1.
People can arrange to be banned by showing up at any riverboat or racetrack, or by visiting any state-sponsored regional gambling treatment center, according to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
