Casino for Coventry may create 1,200 jobs - 2005-03-08
A casino for Coventry that could create up to 1,200 new jobs took one step closer to reality yesterday after the announcement that a major American company is applying for a gaming licence.

Isle of Capri Casinos Inc, which already operates casinos in Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall, announced that it had taken the final step in the process of gaining permission to establish a casino within the Arena Coventry project.

Indian Casinos Need More Oversight -Sen. McCain - 2005-03-08
The U.S. government has to step up its oversight of the fast-growing Indian casino industry to prevent the kind of Mafia-style corruption that once plagued Las Vegas, U.S. Sen. John McCain said on Monday.

The one thing that we know about gambling, is that wherever money is the item that is exchanged, there is going to be the issue of corruption. McCain, chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, told reporters.
