Macau is the hottest piece of gambling real estate in Asia just now and Kerry Packer's move to build a second casino there is a sure bet – almost – judging by reaction to his latest deal.

The proposal by Australia's richest man, along with the son of Hong Kong billionaire Stanley Ho, to open a huge casino complex on the booming Cotai Strip in the former Portuguese colony won plenty of support from investment analysts yesterday, although none was gauging earnings impact until further information becomes available.

Rod Blagojevich and the private attorney for the governor's chief fund-raiser.

Newly impaneled administrative law Judge Abner Mikva declared Thursday that the long-awaited hearings, which were stalled nearly three years ago when Emerald went into bankruptcy, would resume later this month.
