Empire funding pro-casino Indians - 2005-05-13
Some Cayuga Nation anti-gaming tribal members are questioning the validity of an election held this week to replace the tribes' traditional governing council when the election was paid for out of funds given by the Cayugas' casino development partner, Empire Resorts.

Empire Resorts had given $1.3 million to the Cayuga Nation as of March 31 for "development costs" for a proposed gaming facility, according to the quarterly 10Q report Empire Resorts filed Tuesday with the federal Securities and Exchange Commission.

New casino plan may see final vote by June - 2005-05-13
Plans for a new casino complex on Davenport’s riverfront that would have a 10-story hotel and parking ramp could be rushed before the City Council for a final vote by June 1 if aldermen approve public hearings on the proposal next week.

On Thursday, the council’s Finance and Community Development committees agreed to ask the complete body to approve public hearings on a new lease with Rhythm City casino owner Isle of Capri Casinos Inc.
