RHRA seeks patience on casino action - 2005-05-20
Members of the River Hills Riverboat Authority on Wednesday asked the public to stay patient, though they moved carefully to rebuild momentum.

The RHRA is the local body working on the attempt to secure a casino license for Ottumwa. The past week has been a roller coaster unlike any the authority has seen.
On May 11 the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission rejected Ottumwa's casino application.

Churchill Downs willing to limit slot machine casino - 2005-05-20
New Orleans officials with Churchill Downs say they are ready to limit the operation of a slot-machine casino at the New Orleans Fair Grounds race track to 16 hours per day.

That's a lot more hours than many residents in the area of the track want and more than the City Planning Commission voted for last week, but significantly less than Churchill had sought earlier. The City Council is expected to make a final decision on June 16th.
